I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!

I was having a conversation and the word naked came up. Apparently, I pronounce it with my Texas twang. I said "neckked". I didn't even notice my faux pas it but it was pointed out to me. (FYI, the conversation was about a famous TV "Dr" and how he, back in the day, ran his YOU seminars by having his clients strip down, but then I didn't tell you that!) :)

Well, I was fixin' to tell ya'll that I was born up north, but Texas has been my home for round 'bout 50 years!

But even so, I had trouble understanding a co-worker when she was talking about sardo.....???? She had to translate for me... Sour dough as in bread! Ohhh!

I guess there are different dialects according to where you grew up, even around these parts.

And as long as I am talking about language, I HATE it when someone says, "you know what I mean?" I was always taught that was poor grammar. Just one of my many pet peeves!

....and the word WHATEVER? ! ! What does that mean? Go Jump! ?

That may be a future post, my top ten pet peeves.... I will have to think about that!
