Christmas was postponed one day and then the venue was changed to Joe and Joyce's since we were not sure that anyone could make it up the hill to Maurine and Jim's house. Ryan and Jared enjoyed retelling the stories of their harrowing trip from DFW area to WF in the Christmas Eve Blizzard of '09. This will be a Christmas long remembered.

We had a nice Christmas gathering in Iowa Park today. Postponed until today because of the blizzard we got Christmas Eve. (IP got 16+ inches of snow.) Of course we missed Pepa, there was a noticeable absence in the house. And Ryan was in Archer City and Brayden was unable to come to entertain us.

It's snow fun!

We had fun playing in the snow this morning. Joey even took me for a sleigh ride down the street. I think snow brings out the child in everyone, even though Mike was yelling at me that I was "too old" to go for a spin. The last picture is Joey showing his shoes that he put screws in trying to make his own stabilizers.

Nice Visit

We enjoyed a nice visit with Jon and Kelly and the kids, Caleb and Abby last week. They were on their way to Albuquerque to visit family for Christmas.

I ordered these for me and the kids for Christmas from L.L.Bean. They are stabilizers to give you traction on the ice. L.L. Bean calls them "stabilicers". They are like jelly shoes with metal posts on the bottom. Ryan put his on and he was running up and down the street last night that was covered in ice and snow and he did great. When he took them off he nearly fell by his truck. You can get some at L.L.Bean's website.

This much snow is pretty rare in North Texas. There were several hundreds of people stranded on the roads because of accidents. A friend came and rescued Joey and I from work. Ryan finally got through traffic that was backed up by maneuvering his off road truck through the stalled traffic. He stopped and helped several stranded travelers too. I am very thankful for people like Ryan and Chris (who rescued me) that they love this weather and don't mind braving the elements to help those desperate to be rescued.

To his sons, he was known as Pop, to his grandchildren, he was Pepa. He was a Mr. Fix-It and could repair almost anything. He worked for the FAA, and after retiring there worked for 20 more years at a cabinet shop.

Mike's Dad, Ray passed away today after a lengthy illness.

R.I.P. Ray
