Sugar Sugar

One of the blogs that I frequent, posted this recipe for Sugar Cookies. I tried it out and it is delicious. Instead of rolling the dough in flour, this recipe uses powdered sugar. It also suggests that you refrigerate the cookies after you bake them to make them more moist. Check out Brooke's blog at All Things Thrifty. There are many more recipes linked up there but I haven't tried any of the other ones yet. I had never made icing for sugar cookies out of cream cheese either, but it was yummy. I took these to work and they were devoured!

Dry Skin?

If your skins feels/looks like the picture above. Try Cetaphil. It really is one of the best lotions that I have ever tried (and I am a product junkie, so I have tried numerous products). I use it on my face, hands and as a body lotion. This time of year, my skin seems to get dry and parched, quite like this parcel of land, but not with Cetaphil! Janice told me about Cetaphil as her dermatologist recommended it to her. It is advertised for use for all skin types. Sams carries a package of two large pumps for about $15.00. If you go to their website, you can enter to win a year's supply of their products.

Snow week

A week ago Saturday, it was 80 degrees here. Then Sunday a cold front blew in. When we woke up Tuesday morning, we were greeted with this blanket of snow that fell overnight. The roads have been terrible! Although almost everything was closed and the news asked that people stay home, I still had to work. And I don't even work for the postal service. :P School kids got a four day vacation while many mothers were praying for a quick thaw. And now they are forecasting more snow for Sunday/Monday.
I love watching it snow! Maybe I will get to see more snow fall soon.

Spicy soup to warm you on a cold winter's day

This recipe was a compilation of several taco soup recipes and it turned out so good that I had to write down the ingredients. This version was pretty spicy, but you could tone yours down by using regular taco mix and beans.

Spicy Taco Soup

1 lb hamburger meat
1/2 red onion
1 envelope of Hot and Spicy Taco mix
1 envelope of Ranch dip mix
1 pkg frozen corn
1 can Rotel
1 small can chopped green chilies
1 can mushroom soup
2 small cans tomato sauce
1 can Ranch Style beans with jalapeno
1/2 cup salsa
1 cup water
1/2 cup Mexican Velveeta Cheese

Brown hamburger meat and onion. Add the rest of ingredients to this except cheese. After simmering for a while, add about 1/2 cup or more of Velveeta cheese. Allow to melt into soup prior to serving over tortilla chips in your soup bowl. Enjoy!
