Last weekend, I helped host a wedding shower for my friend Vickie's daughter-in-law to be, Kimber. Miles and Kimber will be married in Colorado in August. Jan let us use her house for the shower and Vickie treated us to lunch at the Silver Lining Tea Room before the shower. (Great food and atmosphere, if you haven't tried it yet)  It was lots of fun!

The rest stops along the way to Palo Duro Canyon are so nice. They made me proud of Texas. They all have air-conditioned areas with vending machines, nice, clean restrooms and even tornado shelters.

We visited Palo Duro Canyon this week with Janice and Kenny. We toured the area, went to the Texas Play and stayed at the Hudspeth House, a very nice bed and breakfast. The breakfast was yogurt with homemade granola, orange French toast and sausage. We met lots of nice people there too. Wednesday, we went to the Panhandle Plains History Museum. It is Texas' largest history museum. We saw Quanah Parker's headdress, antique cars, guns, well, a little bit of everything. At the Texas show, one of the characters said that the Texas Panhandle was "where you can see farther and see less than anywhere in Texas!"

Star Walk

When we were kids, Daddy used to delight in teaching us about the constellations. He would set up his telescope in the driveway or in the street by the curb and point out the planets and name the constellations. So in Dad's memory, I had to purchase the Star Walk app for my iPad. Dad would have loved this technology!  You can hold the iPad up to the sky and it tells you what constellations you are looking at. Scan the sky with your iPad and the sky on the screen shows that part of the sky too. Awesome. Check out this Youtube video that shows you how it works.

Meet Luke

The newest addition to our family is Luke Thomas, born May 18th to Kelly and Jon (Tim's son). Proud siblings are Caleb and Abby.  Caleb is hoping that Luke's brown hair will turn red like his.  Isn't my newest great nephew adorable? !
