Pumpkin cookies with Maple Icing

1 cup Crisco
2 cups sugar
1 can pumpkin
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp soda
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
4 cups flour

Cream together first 4 ingredients. Add the rest. Mix well. Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes. Cookies have a cake-like texture. Makes about 8 dozen. Cool cookies and put on icing.
(2 cups raisins and 1 cup pecans optional. I did not use these.)

Maple Icing

1 stick butter
3 or 4 Tbsp. milk
1 box powdered sugar
1 Tbsp maple flavoring.
